Twin Models Ruth and May Bell star in Dior’s Newest Campaign
Model sisters Ruth and Maybell are the stars of Dior’s spring 2017 ready-to-wear campaign.
Lensed by French photographer Brigitte Lacombe against a white backdrop, the Bell twins appear in a series of black and white studio portraits in which they model tulle gowns, casual t-shirts and choker necklaces. The highlight of the campaign images is the contrast between Ruth Bell’s tomboy look and the softer, feminine styling of her sister May. Styling was by Karl Temper while with makeup was by Peter Philips Dior’s Makeup creative and image director.
In addition, the new Dior campaign is part of the project ‘The Women Behind the Lens’, a compilation of images made by women and their personal vision of the collection. The fashion house has involved several photographers to document the Behind-the-Scenes processes at Dior, including Janette Beckman, Sophie Carre, Maripol and Chloe Le Drezen.
The campaign is the first under Maria Grazia Chiuri’s creative direction and communicates the brand’s feminist values by illustrating the dichotomous facets of femininity.‘I really wanted to have a woman photographer,’ Chiuri told WWD about the ads. ‘I’m really interested in different interpretations of femininity, and [Lacombe] really captures the expression of different attitudes.’
Ruth and May Bell have appeared for Dior’s line-up during Paris Fashion Week earlier this year.
