Elle Macpherson is Elle Australia’s November cover star
Elle Macpherson is Elle Australia’s November cover star.
Elle Macpherson graces the cover of Elle Australia’s summer-centric November issue.
The issue is a milestone as it marks 25 years since her last appearance on Elle Australia and reunites her with Bensimon who shot her for the glossy’s 1986 June cover.
The 52 year old supermodel and lingerie entrepreneur was photographed by Gilles Bensimon and styled by Rachel Wayman. On the cover she sports a full-sleeved bathing suit while inside the magazine she is seen in a series of summery images taken aboard a super yacht. Creative direction was by Carly Roberts while Hair and makeup was by Alan White and Kellie Stratton respectively.
In her interview with the glossy, Macpherson opened up about working with ex-husband Bensimon (whom she met in 1982 at an Elle shoot in Tahiti when she was just 18 and reconnected this year for her new lingerie range) to her guiding principle when it comes to health and fitness.
On working with Gilles Bensimon:
‘I knew I wanted to work with Gilles. He was such an important mentor for me growing up, and we created some very strong imagery together for Elle that I feel is still relevant, even today. I knew that he would understand the kind of images I wanted to create. So we talked for many months…it was a real collaboration between him and me, and it also felt like a full circle, from years of him booking me for jobs, to me being able to book him. I loved working with him, next to him, by the camera instead of on the other side with him looking at me!. I feel like he totally understood the aesthetic of the brand that I was trying to create. And when you talk about that mixture between the outdoors, the sexy, strong, sporty image that Gilles does so well, with the French understanding of not what to wear but how to wear it, I knew that was the spirit I wanted for my lingerie: uncontrived, fresh, irreverent.’
On her guiding principle when it comes to health and fitness:
‘No extremes, no fad diets, no cutting out huge food groups, no obsessive exercise, no judging myself by the scale, my circumference or my dress size, no fasting cleanses, just very balanced. And balance is not always easy. Keep it simple and keep it moderate – that’s really important. And having an alkaline pH in my body. I’ve noticed a huge difference since I’ve been conscious of that. It takes very little to make sure we’re alkaline. That’s why I made The Super Elixir – two teaspoons of this product in water is all it takes, and combined with more sleep, some exercise so you can relieve stress, lots of water, less red meat, you know, it’s quite simple. As I said, nothing extreme. I’m not interested in putting my body through any kind of harsh regimen.’
