Karlie Kloss Launches a Coding Camp for Girls
Karlie Kloss has launched a camp to get more girls into tech.
The supermodel and multi-hyphenate has expanded her initiative ‘Kode With Klossy’ with an aim to teach and encourage more young girls aged 13-18 to code.
‘Since taking my first coding class two years ago, I’ve learned how creative and versatile coding is,’ Kloss told Mashable. ‘I decided to launch Kode With Klossy to help expand access to computer science courses and teach young women how to harness and apply the power of code to their personal passions.’
The programme provides nearly 80 scholarships to young women and girls in New York, Los Angeles and Kloss’s hometown, St. Louis. Over the course of the two week initiative students will learn the fundamentals of Ruby, and should be able to build their own functional web-app based on their own interests by the end of the programme.
Applications are open until April 30 and all recipients will be notified by May 20. Those interested may visit the Kode With Klossy website to fill out the application and upload a 60-second video to YouTube with the hashtag #KodeWithKlossy explaining how you plan to change the world through coding.
