Jane Birkin Returns To Modelling Just For Saint Laurent
Jane Birkin makes a comeback, modelling Le Smoking in the latest adverts from Saint Laurent Music Project.
The iconic actress from the 1960s presents Saint Laurent’s revolutionary tuxedo first designed by Yves Sant Laurent for women in 1966 as part of his ‘Pop Art’ collection. The campaign which was shot by Hedi Slimane himself is a celebration of musical icons who have inspired him.
Saint Laurent’s signature tuxedo jacket and trousers was an iconic wardrobe staple and was worn by icons of the time, from Bianca Jagger to Catherine Deneuve, with its fame cemented by the now-famous 1975 campaign shot by Helmut Newton.
Birkin joins a long list of legendary, era-defining women to have posed for the luxury brand since Hedi Slimane took the helm in 2012, such as Marianne Faithfull and Joni Mitchell.
