Martina Spetlova Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Prague S/S16
She is currently one of the most recognizable Czech Fashion Designers but she will always remain the former chemistry student. After she droped her first course she went to London to study towards Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins , one of the most prestigious fashion schools in the world. She decided to set up her own business a year after her graduation and graduate fashion show. She lives and designs from her creative home – London but she sales her collections in Milan and Hong Kong too. Apart from that she lecturers fashion at the Academy of Arts in Warsaw.
Her current collection is inspired by the abstract British painter and print maker Howard Hodgking. Her pieces combine geometric flatness with the more complex fluid patterning. ‘ The collection has been developed in a variation of shapes keeping in line with my signature style but exploring greater possibilities within the colours and textures. Smocked and delicate perforated leather skins are softer and summery but the shapes remain boxy , androgynous and asymmetrical’ says Martina.
The silhouettes and cuts remain contemporary showing the influence of London street fashion.
