Kate Upton Stuns In CR Men’s Book
After a string of 4 magazine covers this year Kate Upton makes her appearance in yet another magazine spread.
The blonde graces Carine Roitfeld’s widely anticipated, first ever CR Men’s Book, which hits newsstands in September. Photographed by Sebastian Faena and styled by Roitfeld, the 23-year-old model sports a pale silk lingerie style Carine Gilson gown with lace embroidery along with a Gucci satin shirt thrown over. She has also tied a military jacket tied around her waist.
The first issue of CR Men’s Book is a special edition centered around Carine’s archetypes of masculinity–men who have both embodied and challenged the norm by blurring the boundaries of gender, sexuality, and style in their respective times. Inspired by the idea of traditional pinup calendars, Roitfeld cast Kate Upton (beloved by most modern men in her own right) to play the lovers, friends and partners of these leading men–evoking a medley of iconic styles that pays homage to a group of talented women ranging from Patti Smith and Winona Ryder to Courtney Love.
Championed as the ‘Marilyn of today’ by Roitfeld, who is the former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, Upton’s iconic beauty is compared to that of Marilyn Monroe. “Kate has always been everything I love,” Carine says. “She is the opposite of me–a Marilyn of today. For my new CR Men’s Book, she represents different types of beauty and the sexual fantasies of all men. Enjoy!”
The issue marks the second endorsement from Roitfeld who cast Upton in CR Fashion Book’s inaugural rebirth issue in 2012. Shot by famed US photographer Bruce Weber the first run of 50,000 issues sold out in just over two months. Upton later expressed her gratitude to Roitfeld’s decision to put her on the cover that led to having a major impact on her career with the buxom blonde going on to appear in Vogue, Elle and Vanity Fair.
