Australia’s Next Top Model Britt Beattie Makes Her ELLE Debut
Brittany Beattie, the winner of this year’s Australia’s Next Top Model has made her magazine debut appearing in her first fashion editorial for the August issue of Elle Australia.
The fledgling 21-year-old former heavy machinery driver from Melbourne’s Whittlesea stars in a stunning 8 page shoot in which she proves that there’s much more than meets the eye and she’s definitely Elle material.
In an accompanying interview with the magazine,Beattie discusses all the ways winning Australia’s Next Top Model has changed her life saying that being an ELLE girl is a major deal. ‘I never thought a girl who spends her days working in the dirt would be able to do any of this – never did I think that I would be lucky enough get paid to model clothes that I only dreamed of wearing!’ she says.
Beattie who beat out Queenslander Lucy Markovic entered the contest on the insistence of a family friend. ‘My aunty’s friend Nicole kept pushing me and pushing me to enter,’ she said. ‘When I didn’t want to, she put a photo of me on Facebook and asked, ‘Do you think this girl should go on Australia’s Next Top Model?’ Then I saw all the comments and likes and thought, I may as well do it.’
ELLE editor-in-chief Justine Cullen is all praise for the budding model. ‘Both Lucy and Britt were great finalists with very different looks, but for me Britt stood out party because her look is so modern and effortlessly cool… but also because she has a unique story to tell. There’s something incredibly endearing about her that I think the fashion industry will embrace whole-heartedly.’she said.
Having already walked for Jean Paul Gaultier, she was selected for his AW15 show in Paris. With a 12 month modelling contract with IMG, Beattie will be heading to New York Fashion Week in September. She’s also just been signed by Australian street label One Teaspoon, and will appear on giant billboards in LA.
