Doutzen Kroes Shares Intimate Breastfeeding Photo
Supermodel Doutzen Kroes has aptly addressed the controversy surrounding public breastfeeding which is often shamed in our society.
The former Victoria’s Secret Angel who is now the face of L’Oreal Paris took to her Instagram to post a tender photo of herself nursing her 10-month-old baby daughter Myllena. “Sweet dreams #blessed” she captioned the black and white photo. Simultaneously, she posted the same image alongside an image of her modeling in a push-up bra. Quoting the late feminist writer Iris Marion Young she captioned the photo “Breasts are a scandal because they shatter the border between motherhood and sexuality”.
Kroes has been an outspoken advocate for breastfeeding. Earlier this year she appeared in an editorial for the March 2015 Vogue Netherland’s Collectors’ Issue in which she and her husband were pictured with their children, while she breastfed 5-month-old daughter Myllena Mae. In April she took to Instagram to share a photo of herself pumping breast milk. She joins the fraternity of celebs and models have spoken out in support of the practice with the hope that it becomes completely commonplace.
Famously, Gisele Bundchen in 2013 nursing her daughter and Miranda Kerr breastfeeding her son Flynn when he was born in 2011. In 2014 Natalia Vodianova had posted a stunning black-and-white intimate picture of her breastfeeding her little baby Maxim. More recently, Supermodel Nicole Trunfio appeared on Elle Australia’s June subscription issue in which she breastfed her four-month-old son Zion.
