Beauty and the Beast at the Cannes Festival
While Lily dressed to impress, Doherty looked scruffy despite his best efforts.
The Cannes Festival is a red carpet affair where the who’s who in show business arrive to show off their best-dressed selves. This year was no different, but there were two who stood out amongst the crowd at the event. Perhaps because they were voted as the unlikeliest pair and then again for what they chose to wear.
Lily Cole looked every inch the gorgeous leading lady as she arrived at the festival wearing a floor-lengthed midnight blue gown with a thigh high slit teaming it with a black fur shawl. But she ended up with a red face when she suffered a weather malfunction. The wet and blustery conditions caused a gust of wind to blow up her skirt, leaving her underwear on display. Not a memorable moment for a stunning leading lady as she struggled to keep a scowl from her face.
The controversial rocker, Pete Doherty, arrived dressed in a black suit and tie and had a white scarf wrapped around his neck with his staple fedora on his head. On his feet he wore a pair of brown and white brogues which did not do much for his ensemble and the garish large silver chain he wore around his neck completed the picture of scruffiness.
Musician Pete Doherty who has been teamed with big name stars such as Kate Moss and the late Amy Winehouse did not do much to impress at the Festival but than again that is his style and his devil may care attitude and his Boy George wannabe look is soooo appealing to the ladies.
Yes, Lily Cole and Pete Doherty were an unlikely pair on the Cannes red carpet but they managed to captivate their audience without really trying and that is the essence of stardom folks!
