Melissa by Alessandra Ambrosio
When a super shoe brand teams up a top model it results in supermodel shoes!
The Brazilian plastic shoes label Melissa started a new line of customized shoes. After the contributions of great fashion designers like Vivienne Westwood and Jean-Paul Gaultier, Melissa turned to celebrities. To innaugurate the new series Melissa Loves they picked Alessandra Ambrosio as their first celebrity designer and muse.
The pregnant Brazilian model designed two shapes: Melissa Incense Glitter – a delicate pump inspired by the ladylike style of the Fifties – and Melissa Divine – a classic ballet flat.
Longing for new projects and chaneling her good taste in fashion in another direction, Alessandra accepted the challenge with promptness. “I decided to take part in the project because I was looking for something beyond the modeling career” and “I thought about something that represented my style. I only wear what I love”. The beautiful mother-to-be enjoyed projecting her style to pieces other people can wear, so much that she’s already thinking of taking it further: “I think the creative process fascinating, and I have to tell you that I was willing to get involved and create something with my name, my brand”.
Besides the creative part of the job, Alessandra also got to do what she knows best: modeling. She is the shining star of the cover of the seventh edition of the company’s in house magazine, Plastic Dreams. That cover features the model displaying a pair of the shoes she designed and wearing a stunning midnight blue dress.
