Petra Nemcova ceased dancing

Petra Nemcova fought back tears tonight after her Dancing With The Stars dream came to an end.
The 31-year-old model was caught on camera wiping her eyes after being voted off the US reality show in the public vote. Nemcova and partner Dmitry Chaplin had finished joint bottom of the leader board after a few slip-ups in their quickstep routine the previous evening.

But while her fellow lowly scorers, actor Ralph Macchio and former Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson, made it through to the next round, the cover girl strutted off the dancefloor. ‘It’s been a life-changing journey for me and I made amazing friends,’ Nemcova told hosts Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke after learning her fate. She added: ‘Dmitry put up with me for two months’, causing Bergeron to quip: ‘That must have been tough.’

Nemcova, who was born in the Czech Republic, found herself in jeopardy alongside actress Kirstie Alley and wrestler Chris Jericho last night. Judge Len Goodman branded the final three ‘madness’ and said neither Nemcova, nor Alley, nor Jericho deserved to be kicked off the show. ‘No wonder I get grumpy. Neither of these deserves to be there. Not one of them deserves to go home. And yet there they are,’ he said. ‘Petra’s been fantastic. Two weeks ago she was leading the top of the leader board, Chris did the best dance of his life last night. It’s madness.’

Alley, 60, appeared less than confident as she learned she and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy were in the bottom three. The former Cheers actress mimed a throat-slitting sign – but later clapped her hands with delight after hearing she was safe. Jericho’s place in the bottom three came as a surprise after he and partner Cheryl Burke scored 26 out of 30 points for their ‘American Week’ Viennese Waltz. The couple clapped graciously after being told they had survived the vote.

But it was Nemcova and her partner who were sent packing – despite finishing top of the leader board the previous week. Chaplin told the hosts he was ‘proud’ of all the hard work the model had put in. ‘She’s come such a long way. You should have seen her take her first steps the first day,’ he said.

Karate Kid actor Macchio and reality TV star Wilkinson had lucky escapes after finishing joint bottom with Nemcova. While Macchio’s partner Karina Smirnoff breathed a huge sigh of relief after hearing they were safe, Wilkinson clenched her fists and cheered.

NFL star Hines Ward, rapper Romeo and Disney star Chelsea Kane also survived the public vote.
During the Dancing With The Stars results show, producers aired a string of bloopers that had not made the final cut in previous programmes. While Ward was seen breaking wind in rehearsals, Len Goodman was caught on camera swearing at fellow judges Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli as they teased him.

In another hilarious outtake, professional dancer Chelsie Hightower was seen losing her bra as she practised her routine with Romeo. The couple even had a live blooper after being named the judges’ favourites and repeating their foxtrot. Hightower’s earring flew off and became lodged in her hair as they danced to ‘New York, New York’.

Country singer Toby Keith performed hit song ‘Should’ve been a cowboy’ during the hour-long results show.

Next week the remaining contestants will dance to ‘guilty pleasure’ songs.
