Jerry Hall inspired Georgia May Jagger’s collection for Hudson…
Kate Middleton and Georgia May Jagger might not initially appear to have a lot in common – aside form their plummy accents.
But our future queen and Mick’s second daughter by Jerry Hall have both been included on Harper’s Bazaar’s list of fashion royalty – alongside Vivienne Westwood and Kate Moss.
Kate Middleton’s inclusion will surprise noone. She has topped fashion internet searches ever since her engagement was announced, and every time she goes near an item of clothing it starts flying off shelves.
Few in the fashion world will be surprised to see Georgia May on the list either, though.
The 19-year-old model-turned-designer has her parents’ looks, coupled with a friendly and dedicated work-ethic that makes her a pleasure to work with.
Georgia May has very much enjoyed the career change that arose when Hudson, who she had modelled for since 2009, asked her to design a collection of jeans.
‘It’s so nice to go from modelling and not really getting to have a say in the clothes to being sort of given full control of it,’ she told The Scotsman.
‘Being told that I can pick the fabric and the cut and colour I want. It’s sort of reassuring to have this relationship where you feel like you can actually talk about things and give your own opinion, which is not what you usually get.’
It also helps boost sales, of course, that she’s a pretty good clothes horse.
In the May issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Georgia May shows off one of the pairs of jeans she designed, The Faye, in a sexy shoot that took place in Paris.
The collection was inspired by photographs of her mum in the Seventies.
‘She used to buy men’s jeans and starch them so they stood up on their own, and her four sisters would have to help her into them.’
Now Jerry wears her daughters jeans.
Georgia May’s androgynous dad is yet to slip into a pair though.
She doesn’t wear his trousers either because, almost unbelievably, she’s too big.
‘I’m always a little bit worried that I’m going to rip them so I’ll just try them on once in front of the mirror… And there are the jumpsuits. I just haven’t worn them out because they’re such precious family heirlooms.’
Just the thing to pass on to future generations of rock and fashion royalty – we’re sure Kate Middleton has Seventies jumpsuits she’ll be passing onto her heirs too.
