Supermodel Sophie Anderton arrested after drunken attempt to board Eurostar… from wrong station
Shamed supermodel Sophie Anderton was held overnight after making a drunken scene at a London railway station.
Embarrassingly for Anderton, she’d arrived at Waterloo station on Monday night only to discover Eurostar services began departing from King’s Cross St Pancras two years ago.
As she swiftly lost her composure, she was heard screaming ‘don’t you know who I am?’ as she lashed out at aides who tried to calm her.
Transport police took her to Tottenham Court Road police station, where she spent the night behind bars. She was released yesterday after being fined ?80.
A source described an all-day drinking session that was sparked by a complimentary glass of champagne at a beauty spa.
Anderton is then said to have embarked on a pre-Christmas bender, ultimately deciding to jump on a Eurostar train to Paris for a spontaneous getaway – seemingly oblivious to the travel chaos that has plagued the rail company this week.
The source said: ‘Sophie is mortified. When she arrived at Waterloo she’d been drinking pretty much all day. An idea to board Eurostar for a romantic Christmas mini-break was mooted and Sophie wanted to hop on and go.
‘Unsurprisingly, she couldn’t find the train. She started yelling things like “don’t you know who I am?” and shoving people out of the way.’
BTP would only confirm it arrested a 32-year-old Surrey woman at 9pm on Monday and gave her a penalty for being drunk and disorderly.
The former superstar once earned ?30,000 a week with bra company Gossard and ?100,000 a year with Fake Bake tanning products, before cocaine addiction derailed her career.
A friend said last night: ‘She made one silly comment to a passer-by and that was it. Sophie feels terrible about it all and has paid the price.’
