Supermodel Niki Taylor Joins State Farm To Promote Teen Driver Safety Week
Niki Taylor is known for her countless magazine covers as one of the country’s top supermodels, but now she’s putting the spotlight on safe driving. The car crash survivor and mom of two teens is teaming up with State Farm for the new awareness initiative.
Taylor is helping bring attention to National Teen Driver Safety Week, which takes place October 18th thru the 24th, which helps raise awareness of the high mortality rate amongst teenagers in car crashes and to prevent teen driving deaths. Vehicle crashes are the #1 cause of death among teens in the United States. During the week, parents are encouraged to communicate with their teenagers about the importance of safe driving. Congress helped established Teen Driver Safety Week in 2007.
October also has the highest average of car crashes involving teens. Taylor herself was critically injured in a 2001 crash when a driver lost control of his car while reaching for his cellphone. The mother of twin 14-year-olds, who has received multiple operations and physical therapy after surviving her wreck, knows the importance of the issue.
“As the mother of two teenage sons, and a car crash survivor, I know first hand the gravity of this issue,” said Taylor. “I’m proud to be working with State Farm on this initiative and to help inform other parents about the simple steps we can take to keep our kids safe on the road.”
Earlier this year, Taylor gave birth to her third child, a girl. She did not return to host the second season of Bravo’s “Make Me A Supermodel.”
