Paris Hilton’s holiday has a sting in the tale, as she spends time in Tahiti with Doug Reinhardt
She must be used to being pawed by fans, but this was one clammy encounter Paris Hilton could not prepare for.
The hotel heiress is holidaying on the island of Bora Bora – neighbours with Tahiti – when she got up close and personal with sharks and stingrays.
Paris and on-off boyfriend Doug Reinhardt spent the day at a lagoon where they were surrounded by the dangerous sea creatures.
Sharks are – obviously – risky swimming partners, but stingrays also pose a major risk to swimmers’ safety.
Stingrays have a sharp poisonous barb at the base of their tales. Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin was famously killed by a stingray barb in his chest in 2006.
Luckily, Paris and Doug seemed undaunted by their encounter as they played in the turquoise waters of the lagoon.
Paris wore an eye-catching one-piece blue bikini with pink piping, and accessorised her look with matching blue shades and a gold and turquoise headband.
A source said Paris, 28, seemed scared about diving into the water, but soon plucked up the courage to jump in.
‘She seemed a little apprehensive at first with the sharks and stingrays swimming around the boat,’ reveals the source.
‘But after some deliberation Paris threw caution to the wind and just went for it and jumped into the sea. She really is fearless.’
Doug soon joined her and local guide was spotted talking to them about the sea creatures, before Paris took some snaps of her encounter.
The couple have been dating since last Christmas, but split up in June this year. Paris was said to be livid that she caught him eyeing up other women.
But the duo were back together a month later, after Doug reportedly hired a private island in Fiji to win back his woman.
Now the pair seem to be a solid item as they’ve spent the last few months holidaying together across the globe in various gorgeous and glamorous locations.
No wonder Doug wanted her back!
