Teenage Vogue cover girl discovered in Primark, Jourdan Dunn, pregnant with first child

Model Jourdan Dunn, 19, who was crowned Model Of The Year at the British Fashion Awards in 2008, is pregnant with her first child.
Teenager Jourdan, who had a meteoric rise after being discovered in the Hammersmith branch of Primark will be missing from the catwalks this autumn as she prepares for the birth of her child with her boyfriend of several years.
Fittingly, the news that Vogue cover girl Jourdan, is five-and-a-half months pregnant was confirmed on the fashion bible’s website, and an excited Jourdan told Vogue.com: ‘I’m really looking forward to the future and having my baby.
The model who was last year still living at home with mother Dee and two younger brothers in Greenford added: ‘I’m lucky – I’m feeling really well. I’m healthy and happy!’
The British model is said to be sporting a perfect tiny bump and ‘could not be more excited about impending motherhood.’
Jourdan was named one of the world’s top 10 young models most likely to gain global success.
Since winning the Model of the Year accolade she has modelled on catwalks in London, Paris and New York, fronted campaigns for TopShop, Benetton and Gap, and has spoken out about racism in the fashion industry.
The 5ft 11in model with vital statistics of 32-23-35, said a lot more could be done to make her industry more diverse.
‘I go to castings and see several black and Asian girls, then I get to the show and there’s just me and maybe one other coloured face.’
As well as gracing the covers of British Vogue, Italian Vogue, Pop and i:D, she was the first black model since Naomi Campbell to walk the runway in a Prada show for 10 years.
After winnning model of the year, Storm boss Sarah Doukas, who discovered Kate Moss described Jourdan as a ‘trailblazer’.
‘I have felt that our industry has badly needed an interesting and new model star. In my opinion Jourdan is the girl and like all the great models before her, she is exciting and original.’
The model and her boyfriend are eagerly anticipating the baby’s arrival in December.
A spokesperson for her agency, Storm said: ‘Jourdan is delighted and really excited. She’s had lots of lovely personal messages of support from all her friends in the fashion industry and it’s great news. We wish her all the best.’
Following the birth of her child, Jourdan plans to return to work between the fashion capitals of New York and London.
