Miranda’s up for the Caulfield Cup
INTERNATIONAL supermodel Miranda Kerr has confirmed she will be a starter at this year’s Caulfield Cup.
The glamorous face of David Jones, currently in St Barts in the Caribbean shooting the latest Victoria’s Secret campaign, will jet into town on Thursday to attend the race day.
She’ll join another face of the retail giant, Megan Gale, racewear ambassador Kate Waterhouse, Olympic champion Grant Hackett and his wife Candice Alley, and trainers Lee Freedman and Gai Waterhouse in the exclusive David Jones marquee.
Leading Australian designers Alex Perry and Lisa Ho have designed stylish and sexy racewear for Gale and Kerr to sport on the day.
The turf wars are heating up this Spring Racing Carnival, with Caulfield Cup Day giving Flemington a run for its money.
With David Jones signing on as a major sponsor for five years and Channel 9 ramping up the television coverage, this Caulfield Cup Day is shaping up to be the biggest yet – although it has risen from quite a low level.
It’s not so long ago that the event’s dress de rigeur was better suited to a nightclub and the majority of attendees appeared to be barely past legal drinking age.
But this year an extensive list of celebrity guests, at least in the exclusive marquees, including David Jones and the Pegasus Club, will be suitably frocked up and feasting on champagne and fine food.
“I’ve never been to Caulfield before, but I did make it to the Autumn Racing Carnival in Sydney this year with David Jones,” Kerr said.
“If Caulfield Cup is half as fun then it will be such a great day out and I’m really looking forward to it.”
While her boyfriend, Hollywood star Orlando Bloom, joined her in Sydney last year, he is busy working and won’t be trackside at Caulfield.
