Lily Cole and Sophie Ellis-Bextor join Kate Moss as faces of Rimmel
Move over Kate Moss – model Lily Cole and singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor have been signed up as the new faces of Rimmel.
The pair will star in campaigns for the beauty brand and were chosen because they represent “two visions of modern British beauty”.
Moss has not been ditched – the supermodel will remain as a face and spokesperson for Rimmel but the two younger women have been brought in to join her.
At 20, flame-haired Cole is 14 years younger than Moss.
She is currently said to be dating actor Jude Law – the couple were spotted at a gig together and she was photographed leaving his London home last week.
Ellis-Bextor, 29, is already at work on Rimmel’s new ad campaign.
She is pictured here on the set of her first commercial, wearing a yellow mini-dress and red heels, filming aboard a Routemaster bus in Notting Hill, west London.
Stephen Mormoris, a senior vice president of Rimmel parent company Coty Beauty, said of his new stars: “We are delighted to be bringing Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Lily Cole on board at Rimmel. Their vibrant personalities and their achievements not only make them aspirational figures for a generation of young women, but also make them ideal to represent Rimmel London.
“We believe our consumers will identify with both new signings and this, combined with the iconic qualities of Kate Moss, who has more than proven herself as the face of Rimmel, will see the brand create even more standout this autumn with their new campaigns.”
Cole, also a face of Marks and Spencer, said she was thrilled to have landed the contract.
“The products are young, glamorous and fun, and have been a British staple of my make-up bag all my life. For me, both Kate and Rimmel represent the best of London style,” she said.
Ellis-Bextor added: “I have always had a passion for make-up ever since I was a little girl and I am very attached to Rimmel as it was my first make-up brand. I am also very honoured to have been chosen to work alongside such an iconic face as Kate Moss.”
