Wasson, the beach bum, comes visiting
Erin Wasson’s career has taken her from a small-time Texas modelling contest to the catwalks of Paris, Milan, London and New York.
Today the 25-year-old supermodel made a curtain call as one of the major drawcards of Australian Fashion Week.
In town to model for Australian cult brand Ksubi, Wasson looked the perfect beach babe at her Sydney media conference, with long tousled hair and a healthy glow.
She appeared alongside Australian Fashion Week impresario Simon Locke and Ksubi designers Dan Single and George Gorrow.
Wasson, teaming black skinny leg jeans with a simple tank top, looked relaxed as she flopped onto her seat.
She said she had spent her morning at the beach after flying into Sydney from Los Angeles only a few hours before.
“It’s great to be here because I’m a beach bum,” she said.
Modelling free of charge for the Ksubi show, Wasson just wants to have some fun.
“I’m down for free, show me a good time, bring the sunshine and that’s that,” she said.
She said she wasn’t put off by the brand’s notorious Fashion Week reputation.
In the past, the Ksubi boys have made models jump into Sydney Harbour, covered them in blood and even let 200 rats loose down the runway.
“Rat city, what’s the big deal?” Wasson said.
A native Texan, Wasson discovered the modelling scene when her father entered her in Dallas modelling contest – and she won.
Since then, she has appeared on the covers of all the leading fashion magazines, including American Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Esquire, and Allure and has starred in campaigns for Escada, Gucci, Valentino, Chanel and Giorgio Armani.
